| Gun modifications and farb |

Gun modifications are allowed as long as they don't alter the appearance of the gun or any other obvious characteristics. If you want to accurize a Mosin, it's fine if you can do it without changing the appearance.
If you want to build a replica, do it right. There is no reason why a scope should ever be mounted in replacement of the rear sight. It might sound obvious, but I've seen young women try to join by making a sniper rifle with a picatinny rail that cantilevered over the back of the gun with enough clearance for the bolt handle.
If you make a sniper replica, the bolt handle also needs to be one piece. Welded bolt handles are incredibly obvious on fakes.

I support the development of forum culture and a sense of community identity. That will naturally involve a shared understanding of forum history.
What I'm not ok with is playing up the drama that happens on the forum because some users think it's fun or entertaining.
The moderators are unpaid volunteers who have a passion for the community. They do not need unnecessary bullshit.
When we ban someone for causing trouble to the community, we don't want to continue hearing about them.
Intentionally creating alternate or novelty accounts for the purpose of "larping" or playing out hypothetical or other fictitious scenarios can be punished with a permanent ban across all accounts.
Asking moderators or other users for information about an incident is unacceptable. Providing the information will also be punished.
Whining off-site about moderation or writing about negative forum events is also inappropriate.
It shouldn't have to be said, but bringing attention to mentally ill hit pieces written by butthurt Neo Nazis is inappropriate and they don't deserve the advertising and attention.

I want to start a website that will benefit other people. It would be really cool to create a website that makes creating and running a wiki simple stupid. I've been volunteering on the wiki here and there are so many things about wikis that don't cross over and every wiki has its own implementation of things that users need to learn every time they use a new wiki. It would be amazing to have a system where users can create new wikis that have standardized templates and help pages when they're created. It's also too complicated from an administrator perspective so adding an interface that allows the wiki to be configured through the wiki itself would be a helpful addition.

Penalties will bypass the standard escalation of warnings. Your main account will receive an immediate warning level and ban duration that will be decided at the time by an administrator. All novelty accounts will be permanently banned.
There is enough actual bullshit that goes on without intentionally manufacturing it.
We have an extremely effective system to identify people which has worked to deanonymize people accessing through clean TOR sessions.

Overly verbose title aside, what are opinions on this?
I had a conversation with Vanya about this issue recently and I'm torn and he has second thoughts. He suggested placing a rule on our Red Army reenactment group against portraying war crimes or any other atrocities against Germans on the grounds that such events are already exaggerated within the collective perception and that portraying them could give the wrong impression.
I don't support any sort of farb to push an agenda but this could be done for counteracting harmful misconceptions that have made their way into public consciousness. I do think that it's problematic to never have portrayals of Soviet brutality anywhere but it seems already very well known. Plus having Soviet reenactors be eager to massacre Germans as revenge for the things they did but never having German reenactors portray anything bad is going to create an extremely inaccurate and one sided impression.
I'm leaning towards prohibiting Soviet atrocities with the exception that they can be allowed if things are negotiated with the Germans in advance where they portray the types of things that they did.

I made the decision to share this to show that we take this extremely seriously. Normally we don't allow public discussion of private forum business, but considering the severity of what happened, I think it's important to share our decision with the community and let them know that this type of thing won't be tolerated. We have moderators come and go, so please do not speculate on who was responsible or try to harass them. Speculation or harassment will have consequences. I'm simply posting this to let everyone who may have been effected know that this moderator has been dealt with.
I recently made the difficult decision to remove a moderator from our staff and ban them permanently due to reports from previously banned users that this moderator was sending them low key threats containing personal information off-site. This has been going on for a few years but I hadn't removed the moderator because they didn't admit to it and it's nearly impossible to verify the type of "evidence" being collected. Since most of the users were banned or were on bad terms with the community, they had plenty of motive to fabricate evidence against the moderators. Stuff like that does happen on a moderately regular basis. Usually it's something silly like they send a fake screenshot of the moderator sending a racial slur in a PM that's on the forum and I can easily debunk it with a database query.
This moderator had multiple accusations of a similar nature that came from seemingly unconnected users over a period of years. There was also consistency in the accounts that the threats were coming from. They never denied the accusations either. They simply questioned me for even considering the accusations as valid.
At this point, I don't think the accusations are fabricated and baseless and I have made the decision to remove the moderator permanently from the community.

This board has been growing in popularity. While there isn't a rule that all threads need to be a question because of the nature of the rest of the forum, it's advisable for this board that threads have a question and at a minimum they shouldn't be random statements. Regardless of the nature of a thread, it should be more than a random statement or hot take.
Threads will be locked and warnings will be issued for pointless hot takes.

If something is deleted, you can discuss it privately with the moderators. Reposting, making whiny complaints or trying to draw attention to it is considered negative attention seeking behavior and itself is justification for a permanent ban.
This rule is also discretionary. If you post a long essay you wrote that got deleted because it was filled with nonsense, you might be ok posting it to your blog. If you add in an editorial calling out the moderators and whining about why it got removed, then expect a ban for negative attention seeking.
