  Warnings and bans
Posted by: Tanya - 04-01-2024, 07:53 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (1)

September 23rd, 2005

This is how the warning and ban system will work.

Users will be issued warning points for rule violations from 0 to 100.  Any user who accumulates 100 points will be permanently banned.  Warning points will disappear after two years since they were issued.

Bans will start at 30 warning points.

Warning levels:

  1. Notification: 1 point.  This warning level is assigned any time a moderator has to take action regarding one of your posts.
  2. Minor Warning: 5 points.  If a rule violation is minor or a moderator feels like they don't need to issue a full warning.
  3. Warning: 10 points.  This is the standard warning.  Four warnings will result in bans of increasing duration and 10 warnings will result in a permanent ban.
  4. Serious Warning: 20 points.
  5. Severe Warning: 25 points.  This is the most severe warning.  Having any additional warning or at least five moderator interventions will result in an immediate ban.

Penalties for warnings:
  1. Up to 29: No penalty other then the warnings on record.
  2. 30: Two day ban.
  3. 35: Three day ban.
  4. 40: Four day ban.
  5. 50: One week ban.
  6. 55: Two week ban.
  7. 60: One month ban.
  8. 70: Two month ban.
  9. 80: Three month ban.
  10. 90: Six month ban.
  11. 95: One year ban.
  12. 100: Permanent ban.

Automatic bans:

Moderators may ban users automatically without accumulation of warning points under certain conditions.  These bans can be temporary or permanent.
  • Bans for users who register accounts just to troll.
  • Spam accounts
  • Extremely offensive personal attacks
  • Posting obscene material
  • Linking to malware or other illegal sites
Permanent or long bans may be issued upon moderator consensus to users who have accumulated at least a 50% warning level.

The site theme could use a redesign
Posted by: General Patton - 03-30-2024, 01:47 PM - Forum: Discussions about the forum - Replies (7)

Seriously.  I could offer assistance with providing changes to the site color scheme.  There is way too little contrast between the gray background and the black text.  At least lighten the main areas of the page or darken it more and have a dark background with light text.  It becomes a chore to read for an extended time and the contrast with the red links makes many of them hard to read.

I'm sure that you'll see an increase in visitors and new users if your site isn't so hard to look at.  Please don't take that the wrong way.  All I want is to help improve the forum.

I know my opinion alone isn't much but I can tell you from experience that for every user who raises an issue, there are easily a hundred more who will never say anything and simply leave the site.

  Forum theme CSS
Posted by: Tanya - 03-30-2024, 12:29 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

September 7th, 2005

Here's a link to the forum CSS page for anyone who wants to use it on their own forum:
https://forum.tanyachernova.org/cache/th..._theme.css

This stylesheet is intended to be applied on top of the default theme.

Here's the stylesheet for the wiki:
https://www.tanyachernova.org/wiki/index...nobook.css

You can use it by adding it to the Monobook.css page on your wiki.

Neither one of these is fully complete right now but you can check back here occasionally for updates.  These are the live stylesheets so they will be updated.  They should both be usable now.

  Moderator text colors
Posted by: Tanya - 03-29-2024, 04:08 AM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

August 12th, 2005

Regular users are required to use the default text color.  If you need to distinguish text, please use bold, underline, or italics.

Blue text indicates that a moderator is speaking officially.

Red, orange, and yellow indicate severity.

Yellow indicates an official cautionary tone.

Orange indicates a more severe or urgent tone.

Red indicates a serious statement.  If red text is used in a post, it's likely that at least one user has received an official warning.

1911s have been banned from Soviet impressions
Posted by: Tanya - 03-29-2024, 03:44 AM - Forum: Reenacting - No Replies

They were already on the farb side and there have been many complaints from the Germans about Soviet reenactors with 1911s not taking hits and trying to engage vehicles.  I personally watched a reenactor claim refuse to take hits and claim that he could suppress an MG-42.  It's gotten way out of hand.

The expulsion of Germans was genocide
Posted by: Erna Becker - 03-29-2024, 01:12 AM - Forum: Germany - Replies (3)

The British and Americans collaborated with the Russians to forcibly expel German civilians from their homeland in eastern Germany.  They were subjected to extreme violence and Eisenhower collaborated with the Russians by refusing to allow German refugees to evacuate into the American lines.  He also put Germans into concentration camps after the war.

I changed the forum to allow larger avatars in addition to displaying them larger
Posted by: Tanya - 03-28-2024, 11:27 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

September 4th, 2005

The default size for avatar uploads is very small and the display size on the page is way too tiny.

Avatar settings can be changed under: Admin CP > Configuration > Board Settings > Profile Options

I created a CSS file under the forum theme control panel and applied the following code to make avatars display larger:

Code:
div.author_avatar img {
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
}

The current avatar size limit is 1024x1024.

Shit that I'm tired of seeing a wartime Soviet reenactments
Posted by: Tanya - 03-28-2024, 08:46 PM - Forum: Reenacting - No Replies

February 3rd, 2010

I don't know how much this comes down to slavaboos not giving a shit versus reenactors who aren't well informed.  You shouldn't trust sellers unless they're already well known in the hobby to label their products correctly.  Most sellers either don't understand or don't care or are actively trying to scam buyers by wrongly labeling their products.

  1. Post-war greatcoats.  The difference in style is quite obvious once you know what to look for and it's very obviously wrong.  I know they can be very expensive, but if you're doing a reenactment where period correct underwear doesn't matter, you should just wear long underwear and multiple layers.
  2. SA patches, and for extra credit in slavaboo cringe, call them CA patches.
  3. Neckbeards.  All facial hair has to be shaved before public events.  If you show up with a neckbeard it says that you don't give a shit and you're probably a slavaboo.
  4. You will never be a real Red Army soldier.  My boyfriend got me into the hobby and there are a lot of dudes in the hobby who have girlfriends and wives, but your impression will not get you laid if you are a male.  Acting like you're a real veteran is slavaboo cringe.
  5. Don't get into the hobby if you're a slavaboo.  Everyone can detect it and you're bringing down the hobby for everyone else.
  6. Don't bother showing up if you're an unironic apologist for Stalin or Soviet policies.  If you're from the USSR and have nostalgia, it's not the same, but if you're a western Anglo it's just cringe and it's an embarrassment.
  7. Speaking English in front of the crowd.
  8. Making cringe Russian statements.
  9. Foreign made Soviet weapons.  They're likely post-war and they stand out if visitors take a look at them.
  10. Front-line infantry with carbines
  11. 1970s and 1980s uniforms.  It's incredibly obviously.  If the shirt isn't pullover, it's probably wrong.

These don't bother me as much but are worth considering
  1. Morbid obesity.  Some groups might let you participate in private events, but it's a disgrace to the uniform if you go out looking like Meal Team Six.
  2. 91/30 rifles with hex receivers.  Most of the conversions were done after the war.
  3. Period correct soles.  It depends on the unit but it's obviously wrong if you're wearing boots with a 1980s sole pattern.

The bombings were as evil as the Holocaust
Posted by: Erna Becker - 03-28-2024, 06:35 PM - Forum: Germany - Replies (5)

October 4th, 2009

The intent of the British and Americans was to murder as many German civilians as possible.  They are indefensible from a military perspective and should be considered as morally evil as the Holocaust.  Innocent German civilians didn't deserve to be murdered because of Hitler.
