Why are you treating the genocide of Germans as a joke? I lived through the war and I don't appreciate you calling that into question. It's very offensive.
Violence and genocide against Germans were common at the end of the war. The Americans could have accepted a deal to allow German refugees to migrate west into their lines away from the Russians.
