Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vasily_1942 - 05-23-2024 March 12th, 2012 Knowing that there are a lot of creepy losers who are obsessed with Russian women and trying to get Russian girlfriends, what do you do to keep them out? Has it been a problem? RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vanya - 05-23-2024 March 13th, 2012 This is a super creepy question, but I suppose I can't blame you for wondering because I've had questions from girls about it. If someone is a creep, we don't even let them join. If they did get in, then we kick them out and an accusation alone would probably be enough depending on the circumstances. Sexual harassment and any potential for abuse will not be tolerated. You can ask a female member on a date once, but that's it. I might get called a super gentleman for this, but you shouldn't be looking to get laid with girls in a male dominated hobby. A lot of them are probably tired of men approaching them just because they have a male dominated interest. We've never had an issue with this coming from one of our own members, but we have had to ban visitors and we banned an entire German unit because they didn't take action to deal with one of their members. I also personally screen new members if they seem like creeps. Being a sexual predator is also not restricted to creeps and adult virgins who you can easily identify. It's probably not much of a problem because creepy neckbeards looking for Russian girlfriends aren't going to drop $700 on an impression and the type of people who have at least $500 sitting around to spend on entry aren't desperate for Russian girlfriends. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Tanya - 05-23-2024 March 13th, 2012 First of all, this question feels a bit creepy and to be blunt, it feels like a troll question. It's already been said in this thread, but the type of person who wants to creep on Russian girls looking for a girlfriend isn't going to drop $700 to be part of a sausage fest. I suppose there could be males who want to oogle girls in uniform, but it seems far fetched that any of them would spend hundreds of dollars and participate in a serious hobby just to do that. On a related tangent, there are a lot of other wrong reasons for joining a unit and people who do that get found out fast. They go in not understanding that they need a correct uniform with all the correct items and that portraying things as accurately as possible actually takes a lot of work. People who don't want to put in the work and think they're just going to get to play dress up like to show up in cheap uniforms they got off Ebay that aren't even period correct and their idea of a "uniform" is a shirt, pants, boots, belt, helmet, and rifle and then call it a day. Vanya is in fact a supreme gentleman for his idea that males in male dominated hobbies should never try to date anyone they meet. There's nothing wrong with asking for a date once from a girl you have reason to believe is single and then moving on. In fact, what Vanya is saying is incredibly misogynistic because he thinks that nerdy girls who join gaming groups as a way to meet boys should be forced to remain single and become cat ladies because the males can never date them. To be completely honest with OP, this question creeps me out because I wonder why it's on his mind. I've been reenacting for six years and I've never had someone ask me about this. There have been weirdos who show up to events but it hasn't been a serious thing. The fact that he posted this makes me think that it's something that's on his mind. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vanya - 05-23-2024 March 13th, 2012 I got a weird vibe from this thread that I couldn't really put into words, so I agree with Tanya. This comes across as a super weird question that makes me wonder what OP has on his mind. The answer is that our "way" is to swiftly eject creeps from the group. The moment they show creepy and inappropriate interest in any women regardless of whether or not they're in our unit, they're getting ejected. It's likely going to be me making the decision and there's not going to be some drawn out process. What's going to happen is I see some dude being a creep and then I pull him aside and tell him get lost and not come back. That's the extent of it. Seriously though, the more I think about this question the creepier it feels. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vasily_1942 - 05-24-2024 March 14th, 2012 I'm sorry that this question came across as creepy. I'm not trying to troll or make anyone uncomfortable. I just wanted to know if you have a way of dealing with something that seems like it's a problem. I don't understand why you're ganging up like this. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Tanya - 05-24-2024 March 14th, 2012 Ironically enough considering the subject of the thread, it doesn't matter whether or not you intended to be creepy, you were creepy. On its own, this post doesn't justify issuing a warning or anything like that. I suppose it's not completely out of the question to be curious about considering how obsessed with Russian girls a lot of neckbeards are. As a female, I've had better experiences reenacting then other male dominated hobbies like gaming. The cost and commitment probably filters out socially oblivious neckbeards. A lot of the creepy sexual comments I've overheard in gaming tended to come from girls. I don't know if nerdy girls are like that or if they're trying to fit in with neckbeards or trying to show that they aren't feminists by making weird jokes. In some ways nerdy girls are a lot creepier than neckbeards because with neckbeards they're like "hot female be girlfriend sex bang." Nerdy girls seem like the tip of an iceberg. Women that are into freaky stuff creep me out in ways that men don't. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vanya - 05-24-2024 March 15th, 2012 Tanya, you will get absolutely destroyed by feminists for that opinion. OP, You've been given good advice so far. Tanya just said how I've been thinking. I want to stress that this is not something that there's a "process" for. The way it works is if you act like a creep, even accidentally, you're getting ejected. If it's an accident like if you're autistic and you're afraid of girls then you might be eligible to rejoin later if you get over it. I can also say from experience that reenactors in general are much better behaved around women then gamers are. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Tanya - 05-24-2024 March 15th, 2012 I have to say that this is seriously a weird ass question and thread to post. This isn't the type of thing that you have a "process" for. Quite honestly it creeps me out bit. This is the type of thing where you tell creeps who have a problem to get lost and don't come back. You don't just keep asking them several times to stop and make it into a long process. It really creeps me out if that's what OP is expecting. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Vasily_1942 - 05-25-2024 March 15th, 2012 I'm sorry if I creeped you out. I definitely don't expect you to be soft with creeps and I'm sorry that you've had to deal with creeps and weirdos in your hobbies. You shouldn't have to deal with stuff like that. I really hope I didn't make you uncomfortable. RE: Do you have a way to deal with creeps looking for Russian girlfriends? - Tanya - 05-25-2024 May 16th, 2012 Settle down and don't pander. It was a super weird question but it's honestly not that bad that you brought it up. We don't have any type of procedure in place. It's just expected that someone should tell one of the leaders and the offender will be removed if the accusation seems credible. Maybe you didn't realize it and that would explain a lot, but the unit is at most never more then 50 people and that's not even the number of people who participate regularly. It started out as a much smaller group from high school. There's not some huge bureaucracy where they're going to have a super drawn out procedure of due process. If someone is acting up they're going to be told to stop and removed if necessary. |
